Profits Run – Forex Trading Courses!

The world of Forex trading is one of the largest day traded markets in the world, and it’s an area where everyone and their uncle is promising you a ‘turn key solution’ to making a six figure income in your spare time, usually with some market-beating algorithm or ‘top secret automated trading program’.

Let’s deflate the hype for a moment. The Forex markets represent almost two trillion dollars of trading volume every single day that they’re open, and because of time zones, they’re open nearly six days per week. If there were REALLY a piece of software that could allow someone to turn a thousand dollars into four hundred thousand dollars per year, you can bet that the banks that do the bulk (more than 98%) of the Forex trading in the world would be using it.

There are excellent automated tools out there to help you with your forex trading; these aggregate and collate and sort data that’s coming in from the forex market, and can plot specific currency pairs and their basis point trends, and remind you of when particular bourses (London and Singapore and Tokyo, usually) are about to open or close, but in reality, like anything to do with computers, they can only do what you ask them to do.

Knowing what to ask them to do is skill, and Forex trading takes skill to master. It is not a deterministic, automatable procedure. Getting that skill – even at the very basic level – requires knowledge, and that knowledge will come from Forex trading courses.

What’s covered in these courses? Well, the very basics cover what a currency pair is, and what sorts of things will cause their relative values to change. While about 80% of these fluctuations are fairly regular, there’s a lot of data and signaling information to go through, and trying to do ‘monkey copy’ signaling trades without understanding what’s going on is a recipe for disaster.

These courses will also show you how to utilize the firehose of information coming in, and how to prioritize it, to make effective trades. Indeed, one of the important things you’ll learn from these courses is that it’s not the successful trades that make you a good forex trader, it’s how you handle the inevitable bad decisions you make. You need to learn from your mistakes and not dwell on them or be devastated by them.

Another thing that good Forex trading courses will cover is a ‘mixed strategy’ – not just currency pair differentiation and diversifying your portfolio, but holding onto a mixed bag of forex options, so that you’ve got some that are set to pay out in the long term (positional trading) and some that you manipulate day to day, to find which periodic fluctuation in relative currency values you’re most comfortable with investing in. While everyone and their uncle (as mentioned at the top of the article) is trying to tell you how much money you can make doing Forex day trading, there are Forex traders who buy and trade on weekly and monthly arbitrages, because they don’t want to be tied to a computer screen afraid that if they go to the bathroom or grab a soda, that their entire position is going to evaporate.
