Rett syndrome is a kind of autism, a severe form of the disorder that affects girl and girls only. With symptoms that include lots of hand movements, and the loss of language and motor skills, it is actually difficult to classify it as one of the maladies that constitute the autism syndrome. Added to the above are seizures as well, and eventual death due to breathing irregularities. Genuinely, not a lot of autistic patients have been known to die that way, though.

I wouldn’t even want to think about the actual number of developmental or behavioral disorders known to exist in the world today. Suffice to say that they are many. In trying to diagnose or even treat a few, more and more keep springing up every day. Even autism, one of such that a lot has been learnt about and in the last two decades is yet to find cure; hence the newer ailments all have to fall in line. Not a pleasant prognosis for the young kids.

There are a lot of difficulties that little kids may experience before they develop enough to become independent. When these difficulties become pronounced and appear to now be affecting the child s mental development, your doctor is the best person who can give you a say on such a matter. They could or might not be autism, but at least you need the professional s opinion.

When you suffer from schizophrenia, you could take medication to suppress the worst of the ailment; but with autism, you don’t get so lucky. To begin with, you would have to have been very young at the time it started, perhaps an infant, so that you could never have had any control over it. The bad part is that autism does not leave you again for life it stays with you forever. But the good part is that it can be somewhat managed.
